Care & Maintenance

Countertop Care

For your first 10-14 days after installation, to aid in curing and hardening of the counters, use counters sparingly and avoid storing items of weight such as full pots, pans, blenders, toaster ovens, coffee maker, etc.

Cleaning

Most dirt & residue

Use soapy water or quality non-aerosol window cleaner that is ammonia free, rinse and wipe completely dry with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. (Windex Antibacterial cleaner works well.)

Preventing hard water marks

Rinse and wipe completely dry after cleaning; clean up spills before they dry using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge.

Removing hard water marks

Use a non-aerosol cleaner formulated for removing hard water marks or a mixture of vinegar and water.  Rinse and wipe dry within a few minutes after applying using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge.

Difficult residue

Use warm water and non abrasive sponge.  Wipe dry using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge.

Disinfecting

Occasionally, wipe surface with Windex antibacterial cleaner.

Avoid cleaners with ammonia, bleach or abrasives when cleaning your countertops.

Always follow the manufacturer's safety instructions of cleaners.

Preventing Heat Damage

Always Minimize Direct Heat Contact

DO NOT PLACE HOT POTS, PANS, ETC. DIRECTLY ON THE COUNTERTOP SURFACE.  Your countertops should not be exposed to direct heat exchange.  The finish is scorch resistance and possibly tolerate to a brief moment of direct heat.  Always use heat trivets or hot pads when placing any hot object on any surface. Always use a trivet under your portable heat generating appliances such as toaster ovens, griddles, fryers, and crock pots.

Preventing Other Damage

Avoid Strong Chemicals

Strong chemicals, such as paint and nail polish remover may damage the finish of your countertop. If a spill does occur, promptly flush the surface with water and fully rinse.

Avoid Cuts/  Scratches

Do not cut directly on the countertop.  Use a quality cutting board.  Use of coasters and placemats will reduce scratching.

Additional Protection

While this step is not needed you can provide your countertops with an additional layer of protection by waxing the tops with a good quality Carnauba car wax every six months. If you are not comfortable performing this process and would like it done please call for pricing.

With a little care your countertops will provide you with years of elegance and usefulness.
